But it's only August!

Running errands on Saturday and I see this at Costco.

What in the world is that?  It's only August.  How can there possibly be Christmas decorations out already!

Saturday started out as a good day.  I got in a nice run and saw a bunny.

I decided that I was going to do all of the errand running and grocery shopping today so that I didn't have to do any of it on Sunday.  Zoey offered to go and keep me company.  We took each other's picture while sitting at a red light.

We went to World Market, Marshall's, Costco, Sam's and then finally Kroger.  I'm pretty sure she talked the entire 3 hours we were gone.  In the car, we were listening to the radio and 'Love Somebody' by Maroon 5 came on.  Zoey is listening and all of a sudden said, 'Mommy, if he wants somebody to love, why doesn't he just go get a pet'.  So cute!

I picked up some pretty colored pasta from World Market and Halibut from Costco and we had a great dinner.

Sunday morning started with a family run at Little Mulberry.  I went ahead of everyone else and got in 2 laps of actual running before walking one with the kids.  My time was pretty good but lord it was humid.  I ran my two laps in the time it took to walk one with the kids.  Here they are after the walk, obviously Ethan is in a FABULOUS mood. We had just talked to him about why he wasn't mature and responsible enough to play some X-Box game that doesn't allow you to turn off the bad language. We don't have a problem with the violence in the games but the language is a different story.  He seems to occasionally let slip some of the things he hears.

12 week challenge is going well.  Food is on track and exercise is doable.  My Monday and Tuesday workouts last week left me sore until Friday.  I'm hoping tomorrow isn't a repeat.

Workouts planned for this week are:

  • Monday - 3 mile run
  • Tuesday - One on one with Sherry
  • Wednesday - 3 mile run
  • Thursday - 3 mile run
  • Friday - strength/conditioning
  • Saturday - rest day
  • Sunday - 5 mile run

Into the Swing of Things

Last Saturday we got up with a day of nothing planned except for cleaning up around the house and taking it easy. We got a call from Kim mid-morning that they were thinking of driving over for the day and since we had no plans we were completely game. It was nice to catch up since it had been months since we'd all been together. We finished the day off with a nice dinner at Del Rio.

Sunday was a day of grocery shopping, food prep and playing with the kids.

Monday started my new challenge with Team 2B Fit. I have a meal plan to follow that requires me to eat 6 meals a day on workout days and 5 on non workout days. I made it to the morning Boot Camp class and somehow survived. Not really working out for almost 4 months really showed.

I saw this rainbow on my way to the gym Tuesday. It made me smile! Tuesday's workout completely kicked my butt. I'm still barely able to walk. Hopefully that will be better tomorrow.

Jason's job search is still going well. The company from last Thursday wants another interview and they should be calling this week to set that up. Fingers crossed!

The kids got their new belts at karate on Tuesday. It was a sparring class and I love watching them actually use what they've been learning for the last year.

Being back in the swing of things with school and our normal routine is really refreshing. It seems that I need the order to feel normal. I saw this quote on Facebook and just loved it. It's such a great reminder to stay positive and always keep moving forward.

Friday Recap

What a big week we have had! School started on Wednesday.

Love the backpacks hanging up again.

The kids were exhausted after every day. It didn't help them that we had guitar and karate on Wednesday and karate again on Thursday. Normally they would be wide awake at 6:30 and this week we are waking them up at 7:00.

Friday was Jason's birthday so we had all kinds of birthday stuff going on. He and I went to lunch without the kids at Tilted Kilt. Had a couple of beers...

We went to Pappadeaux for dinner. It was amazing but I forgot to take pictures.

The birthday cake was awesome! New recipe and I nailed it! So excited with how this turned out.

The rest of the week was great and we had some great meals. Our standard salmon, asparagus and threw in some avocado.

This one was a trial dish- chicken stuffed with cauliflower and onion and a side of avocado and tomatoes.

I started training for my Half this Thursday. I got a run in Thursday and Friday. I've also signed up for a new 12 week challenge at the gym that starts Monday! Big things to come next week.

Jason had a great interview on Thursday. Hoping to hear from them next week.

We have a fun weekend ahead of us with nothing major planned.

The Spreadsheet has been made so it's official....

I've picked my next race (woo hoo)!  I'm running the Soldier Half Marathon in Columbus, GA on November 9th.  The training dates are set.

I love it once the decision has been and I can start getting organized.  This is going to be a PR race for me.  I just know it.  I'm (secretly) hoping to finish in 2:10 but ANYTHING below 2:20 works.  Seriously, 2:19:59 is cool with me.

Saturday was a good day

We got up Saturday with no firm plans in mind for the day except to go to the park for a run. Normally the kids are dragging about halfway around the loop so we decided to take their scooters. Zoey wiped out at abut 3/4 of a mile in. The little trooper made it the rest of the way around.

Jason took the kids up to stretch and cool down and let me run a lap by myself. It was HOT, almost 80 and humid. We took them to Dunkin Donuts for a late breakfast afterwards.

After lunch we ran to the mall to get a few things. Ethan was not excited about going. Here he is pouting outside of a store.

After the Mall, we ran to Costco and Petsmart. We were gone for about 3 hours. By then Jason had reached his maximum 'putting up with crowds and bad drivers' limit. Ha ha!

Got home and had a fabulous dinner of halibut and asparagus. Everyone was in a good mood and we just sat around the table and talked and laughed. Then we watched some baseball and read and drew pictures and talked. I love those evenings where we just hang out!

The kids went to bed around 8:30, we're trying to get them used to early bedtime again since school starts (holy cow) Wednesday. Jason and I watched some more baseball and then put in Pitch Perfect. Loved it!

Sunday is another day of not many plans. Just some menu planning, grocery shopping and laundry. Easy day!

Weekly Recap

TGIF! It's been a busy week around here. I can't believe that the kids go back to school next Wednesday. Where did the Summer go???

Wednesday we ran out at lunch and got school supplies. It's funny how Ethan has gotten into the 'couldn't care less what my stuff looks like' phase. I can't believe he is 10. (Sad face). The girls, of course, loved it! Mia got a binder with a kitten on it and and thinks its the 'cutest' thing ever.

We met the Fernandes' at Dave and Busters. The kids didn't know they were coming and loved it.

This air hockey table is great! Four play at once.

Zoey got 1000 tickets on this game, on her first try.

After gaming we had a nice dinner and got home late. We were all tired.

Jason had 2 phone interviews with the same company this week. He goes to do the in person one next Thursday and has a phone interview with another company on Wednesday. Looks like the job search is picking up!

I'm sad to report that absolutely no exercising was done this week. Once the kids get back in school it will be easier to have a routine. Eating paleo has been going really well though.

A couple of good meals this week. This was the Coconut Curry Chicken Throw Together from the PaleOMG website.

It turned out pretty good. We want to try it with a few changes. Thank goodness for Pinterest and being able to add notes. Tonight we had a new spaghetti recipe that you do in the crockpot and serve over spaghetti squash. It turned out good but needed some more seasoning on the meat. I always seem to do that. I can't remember where I got the recipe from.

It was also a little juicy. I think if we baked it that would help some.

Currently loving this from Jimmy Fallon and Robin Thicke.
